The basic idea of this network is that members set up an article directory in some of their websites, allow other members to post articles to it and they can do likewise.

Fast-forward 2 years now, guess what….

The entire network of article directories (more than 4000 of them) are getting more than 1 million traffic a day from the search engine. This is something I’ve never expected.

How do we make it happen? Well, that’s what I’m going to share with you in today’s post.

You see, getting traffic for the article directories, honestly, is not the intended objective. The intended objective of the system is to help its members to get backlinks through posting articles.

But simply posting article to a ton of websites isn’t going work, because most of the articles are not going to be indexed, or even if they are indexed, they do not have much link value. This is what is happening to many link building networks in the market now.

The solution? Backlinks, again.

That means in order to make those published articles worth more, you have to build links to those articles that eventually link to you. That’s why nowadays, you see tons of “link booster” system flourishing.

Understanding this fact, we devised a system to ping and build backlinks to EVERY article posted in the article directories in our network, before these articles eventually link to our members’ websites.

Imagine a website where every article posted in it has got other websites linking to it. That’s the picture of each of the article directory in our network, in the eyes of the search engine.

What happens when the search engine sees such a website? If the search engine can talk, he will say “wow, this got to be a popular site with many people are raving about it”.

As a result, the articles posted in our article directories rank very well in the search engine. In fact, in total, they receive over a million traffic every day. (We know it because all the articles are served via our server and we record the daily hits.)

That is one part of the equation, the most important part.

The other part of the equation is relevance.

The article directories in our network are a general one, yet the articles posted in them can rank well in almost any niche. Why is that so?

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

Reseller Hosting vs Shared Hosting - Which One Should I Get?

If you are searching for web hosting options, you may have compared reseller hosting vs shared hosting. Which one should you choose, if money is not an issue?

I decided to write this article because I recently helped a client to set up a script, and notice that he, as a newbie, is using a reseller hosting account. Puzzled, I asked him why. He said he had done some online research and most people said that reseller hosting is better.

Curious, I did some research too and realized that many bloggers are advocating reseller hosting. OMG.

Hence I decided to write this article, to shatter some of the myths that are going around… and to help you save some money.

I’m going to list down the arguments on why reseller hosting is better (based on what other bloggers wrote). Then I’ll share my own view point… and you’ll be the judge.

1) Reseller Hosting Saves You Money When You Have Several Domains

Most bloggers say this, “if you have ONE personal website, shared hosting will save you money. But if you run an online business with several sites, a reseller hosting will save you money, since it allows hosting of multiple domains.”

That’s not true.

Yes, some shared hosting services allow only 1 domain, and the cost is about $5/mth. But there are tons of hosting companies that offer shared hosting with unlimited domains and the cost is less than $10/mth. You can have 100 domains hosted on a shared server. No problem.

2) Reseller Hosting Makes You Money

“A reseller account allows you to sell hosting, helping you to offset the cost of your server.”

If your intention is to get into the highly competitive website hosting industry, then yes, by all means, get a reseller account. But if your intention is to offset your cost, it’s really a bad idea.

As a reseller, you have to provide your own customer support. If you are not server savvy, you will have problem serving your customers. Even if you are server savvy, your time will be better spent growing your key business, not to offset your cost.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Promote A Niche Web Store

I was reviewing the comments in our blog and one reader asked for advice on how to advertise and get traffic to his niche web store.

You can take a look at his website here or this screenshot to see how it looks like when this article was drafted.

As I have always been saying, getting traffic is easy. The hardest thing is converting the traffic.

The key to traffic conversion is the sales funneling process, i.e. how to capture the immediate interest of your visitors and get them to take action (usually by means of opt-in or adding you as their preferred site) before leaving your site.

Once the sales funneling process is ready, the rest is just going through the process of getting traffic.

I talk about sales funneling process right at the start of this discussion because it is exactly what is lacking in this website.

Let’s go back to the website. The homepage is a catalog page listing the featured products for sale. Such homepage will only appeal to one type of traffic, i.e. people who are currently in need of a SPECIFIC niche product THAT happens to be listed in that catalog. My question is, what is the chance of you finding such a person?

Assuming you advertise such a website, chances are most of the traffic will just come and go, including those who may have a need for your product in the future.

By now, you may ask, “So, what is a good sales funneling process for such a site?”

There’s more than one way to skin a cat. For example, I may offer a huge MRR bundle that people can download free if they opt-in. Whoever come to my homepage will be presented with the offer, either on the homepage, above the fold, or as a popup. I may also have a series of autoresponder attempting to convert them into sales.

Also, instead of selling the product at a premium price of $29 - $59 for just one product, I may just sell most of the products at unbelievably low price of $0.99 - $3.90, emphasizing that those are limited-time offers. I may also have a “BUY ALL” offer at $49 - $97 for those with higher budget.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

Google’s Algorithm Change in 2011 And Its Impact

On 24th Feb 2011, Google announced a major change in its search algorithm. This time, the target of this change are those content farms.

I’m not going into the details of the change. You can read it here.

Following the change, I receive lots of inquiries all asking about its impact on our Ezarticlelink network. Well, I’ll come to that later. But first, let’s take a look at some interesting research I’ve done.

1.Who Are Hit By The Change?

Following the announcement, Matt Cutts (head of Google’s Webspam team) said, “Google has been thinking for quite some time about how to deal with content that isn’t obvious spam but is clearly not designed with the best interests of the user in mind. Google needs to be open to ways where we can improve.”

When I read this, my immediate feeling was Matt is referring to sites like Ezinearticles and other article directories, which have been gaining a lot of traffic under the new Google Caffeine system.

You see, these article directories are not spam, neither are they qualified as a great resource. Yet they seem to be dominating Google’s search result, simply because tens of thousands of webmasters are working very hard to build contents as well as backlinks for them.

Is my feeling right?

You bet!

Take a look at the traffic stats for the 3 highly popular article directories: Ezinearticles, Associatedcontent and Buzzle.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

What I Did Right When I First Started Online

Following my discussion on the Internet Marketing Mistakes I Made When I First Started Online, today I shall share with you what I did right when I first started online.

I hope my experience can help shorten your journey to online success.

Here we go…

1. Understand The Principles Of Success

I always find reading boring until I discovered a section called Self Help in the bookstore. Since then, I became a self help junkie, reading all kinds of books and attending all kinds of seminars on success, communication, sales, wealth creation, mind power, brain power and even spirituality.

All these readings eventually led me to quitting my job, starting a few brick-and-mortar businesses and failing at every one of them.

If I had given up my dream then, I may now be another skeptic of success philosophy.

But when I turned to online business, everything I’ve learnt began to apply. Be it the law of giving and receiving, the theory of delayed gratification, the concept of focus equals to power or the idea of think and grow rich, all the principles of success that I’ve learnt are now the foundation of my online business.

Personally, I think such foundation is very important because it keeps me focused on what is really important in building a successful business (or even building a successful life), instead of simply chasing after the money.

2. Learn Programming

Many gurus suggest that a marketer should focus on driving the business and should outsource other technical stuff such as website creation to others. For me, I prefer to learn and do it myself.

I’m not trained in HTML, PHP or Javascript, but I make it a point to learn enough so that I can communicate with my programmer at the same level and do minor programming or debugging work when necessary.

The advantages of knowing about programming are as follow:
i. I can save money on simple programming work, since I can do it myself.
ii. I can respond faster to any bug report and system improvement.
iii. The more I understand about programming and its strengths and limitations, the more ideas I can come out with.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

Internet Marketing Mistakes I Made When I First Started Online.

I’ve been thinking of what to write in our blog to welcome 2011. Finally I decided to talk about some of the internet marketing mistakes that I’ve made in the past, not last year, but since I started venturing out online.

I hope my experience can help you avoid some pitfalls and hence smoothen your online journey in 2011.

Without further ado, here are the internet marketing mistakes I’ve made.

Mistake #1. Not believing that internet marketing is for me

This has to be the TOP mistake that I’ve made.

Back in early 2000, I was already learning about internet marketing and trying a few things without any success. My mentality was “let’s see if I can make some money online”.

I was never serious about internet marketing because I had so many other options of making money at that time.

After a few years, I failed in ALL my brick-and-mortar businesses and I was $50k in debt with the bank. At that time, online business was my last chance, as the initial investment was minimal. It was a case where I either made it online or I would have to shelve my dream and get a job.

Now it seems to be a blessing that I failed in all my offline businesses.

Mistake #2. Lacking marketing plans

Whenever I have a good idea, I’ll act on it. But there were not one, but two occasions where I spent months preparing and building a new website and when everything was ready, I realized that I had no idea how to market that website!

Of course, those websites are now sitting there collecting virtual dust, while serving as a reminder for me that I must have a foolproof marketing strategy for a new website even before I register the domain name!

Mistake #3. Hoping that there is a holy grail

There was one time when I bought a 100,000 email list from a renowned internet marketing guru, naively thinking that even if just 1% buy from me, I will be rich!

I prepared a good opt-in offer, since I knew I needed to convert it from a cold list to a warm list, and I also prepared a series of autoresponder to convert the opt-ins to buyers. Everything seemed ready, but when I massed mail to the list, I hardly got any click through, not to mention opt-in or sales.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

My Best Website Traffic Strategies

My intention of today’s discussion is to encourage our readers, i.e. YOU, to share with us what are some of your preferred website traffic strategies.

Feel free to discuss your preferred traffic strategies in the comment section below.

Let me kick start the discussion with 3 of my best website traffic strategies.

1) Advertising

Think about this question: If you are totally new to a market, with no network, no JV partners, no customer and no leads, how are you going to establish a presence in the market?

Well, one way is to actively promote your website through social medias such as facebook and forums. But that takes a lot of time and effort. A faster alternative is advertising.

There are 2 types of people when it comes to advertising:

- The first type are those who advertise with the aim to make some sales and hence recover the advertising cost with a good profit.

- The second type are those who advertise with the aim to build a network. Immediate recovery of the advertising cost is secondary because the network they have built will eventually pay back the advertising costs and much more.

It’s hard to say which type of advertisers is better. But personally, I belong to the second type. How about you?

2) Search Engine Traffic

The good thing about search engine traffic is that it is free and pretty sustainable. The challenge is it costs time, money and know-how to build that traffic.

The SEO game is a long-term game (at least 6 - 12 months). Most people fail because they are looking for short-term results. As I’ve discussed in my previous posts, with the launch of Google Caffeine, the emphasis is now on site authority, and one of the major factors that determine site authority is the age of the website

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Nurture Your Affiliates

As mentioned in my last post, I’m going to share with you tips on how to nurture your affiliates.

Those of you who have read the Insider Advertising Report will know that to be successful in advertising, you have to understand the characteristics of your prospects. Likewise in affiliate management, you have to understand the characteristics of your affiliates.

Here are the characteristics of your affiliates:

1. They are unmotivated.
2. They are uncreative.
3. They are lazy.

I believe these characteristics hold true for all affiliates, until you have their attention and interest in your program.

Once you understand the characteristics of your affiliates, nurturing them becomes a simple task of asking the right questions. The tough part is answering those question.

Questions that I keep asking myself are:

1. Why would someone promote our website?
2. How can we encourage affiliates to take action and start promoting our website?
3. What other creative tools can I develop to make it easier for our affiliates to promote us?
4. Since affiliates are lazy, is there a way to promote our program without having to promote it?

Let’s look at how we answer these questions in one of our websites, LeadsLeap.com.

1. Why would someone promote our website?

When our members promote LeadsLeap, other than making money, they are at the same time building 10 levels of leads whom they can advertise to.

In addition, whenever their referrals read ads, they earn advertising credits on autopilot. Many of our members earn thousands of advertising credits every month without reading any ad on their own because they have a team of people earning credits for them.

2. How can we encourage affiliates to take action and start promoting our website?

Our answer to this question is to have a Bonus Credit reward program, where members with just 20 personal referrals will receive 500 advertising credits every month, forever! Needless to say, many members try to get their 20 referrals by hook or by crook.

In fact, the rewards do not just end there. The more people they refer, the more bonus credits they receive every month. That’s why we have affiliates promoting our program on a continual basis.

3. What other creative tools can I develop to make it easier for our affiliates to promote us?

One powerful tool (or rather a system) that has brought lots of traffic to us is our blog referral system.

The way it works is quite simple. Our blog (which is the blog you’re reading now) is a viral blog. Our members can send traffic to any article in the blog with their affiliate ID. When the traffic signs up, it becomes their leads. When the traffic click ads, the members earn ad credits. This system alone has brought us lots of traffic because whenever we make a blog post, many of our members will inform their leads about the article. Sharing good information is always easier than sharing an opportunity.

To further leverage on this system, we create a LeadsLeap Widget that members can place on their websites. With this widget, our members will be able to send traffic to read the useful information on our blog while helping them to build leads and credits on autopilot.

4. Since affiliates are lazy, is there a way to promote our program without having to promote it?

Is it possible to get someone to promote your program without that person promoting it?

Definitely yes. Google uses this trick all the time.

The answer is to provide useful tools that webmasters can use. At the same time, those tools carry your brand.

We have quite a number of such tools and we are developing more. An example is our SlideSense advertising system. Members can use it for their own advertising purpose, but indirectly they are promoting LeadsLeap. Other tools we’ve developed include our Advanced Link Cloaker and List Building Script.

Some Final Notes

You may think LeadsLeap is an advertising system. That’s why we have the luxury of advertising credits and tools that we can leverage on to come out with incentives that address to these questions.

It’s not true. (At least you can’t allow yourself to believe it’s true.)

Regardless of which niche you’re in, you will be able to find a similar solution for your niche. Just believe and think hard. One day, you may wake up with an innovative idea that may just work.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Build A Sustainable Online Business

Making money online is hard, but building a sustainable online business is even harder. Is it true? Well, not quite, if you know the secrets.

Over the years, I have seen a couple of marketers who made quite a bit of money online and then quit internet marketing totally. Some of those whom I asked said they find it hard to maintain the income. Eventually, they got tired and gave up.

Like it or not, internet marketing is NOT a job. You can’t expect to be paid months after months, with increments every few years. If that’s what you are looking for, go get a JOB (a.k.a Just Over Broke).

Whether you are doing affiliate marketing, Adsense marketing or providing online services, internet marketing is a business, which means you need to keep on promoting your website or your income will drop. That’s where most ‘once successful’ marketers fail.

I started earning full-time income from the internet since 2006 and it’s been 4 years now. 4 years isn’t long, but I guess the fact that I’m still around and one of my flagship sites, LeadsLeap.com, is still doing well after 3 years, I think I’m qualified to share with you some tips on how to build a sustainable online business.

The Secrets Of Building A Sustainable Online Business

Let’s keep it simple. To me, there are only 2 secrets. 1) Passive income. 2) Passive traffic.

1) Passive Income

I’m sure you are familiar with the term ‘Passive Income’.

Passive income can be built in 2 ways:

i) Selling something with recurring fee, such as MLM, membership program, subscription-based services, etc.

Study your business and ask yourself if it has a passive income model. If it doesn’t, the money you make is just as good as winning a lottery. And you should rethink your business model.

For example, if you are an affiliate marketer in the Forex market, instead of promoting a Forex ebook, you should focus on promoting Forex membership programs. If you are a Forex expert, instead of writing a Forex ebook, you should create a Forex trading system. I believe you get the idea.

ii) Selling a one-time-fee product, but with continuous flow of traffic to make this income recurring.

If you happen to be in an industry that is hard to create a membership program, you will need to have continuous flow of traffic to your website so that there are people buying your ebook or clicking your Adsense ads all the time.

The question is, with so many traffic strategies available, which one should you focus on in order to get this continuous flow of traffic? This is when you need to understand the concept of Passive Traffic.

2) Passive Traffic

Many marketers talk about passive income. But very few marketers talk about passive traffic. To me, passive traffic is more important than passive income. It is an extremely important key to building a sustainable online business.

Passive traffic refers to traffic that come to your website without your active involvement in promoting your website for a few months. If you have an effective passive traffic system for your website, you can at least take a few weeks of break to do something else, such as developing a new business, instead of having to worry about traffic every day.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

3 Simple Online Traffic Strategies You Can Start Using Today

In today’s blog, I’ve invited Henry Zeng, founder of henryzeng.com and autotrafficmagnet.com, to share with us how he generates traffic to his websites. Read on to find out what he has to share with us……

First off, traffic isn’t something that happens overnight. It is something you have to build on a daily basis. You need to set up a strategy and work on it every day to build a flow of visitors to your site from different sources.

1) Forum Marketing Traffic Flow

The first tactic I want to share is to use forums and message boards to start drawing traffic (and sales) immediately.

Online communities, or forums, are great channels to promote your links. You will be allotted a signature box, where you can put your links on. For every post you make, your signature box
appears.

Obviously, you can only do this through your signature link, and every forum has its own rules about how signature spaces can be used.

The best way to find forums in your niche is to do a search in Google for something like “[your market] forum”, or by searching directories like http://Big-Boards.com and http://BoardReader.com. You’ll also want to check if Google Groups has any relevant categories as well.

No money spent, no website required, nothing to lose. And there is no looking back. The traffic you can pull from this strategy alone is incredible.

2) Download Directory Submission

I haven’t realized until recently that there are a lot of million-dollar software companies out there whose primary marketing strategy isn’t affiliates, SEO, PPC or any “typical” marketing tactics.

They get almost all of their traffic straight off software directories like http://Download.com, http://TuCows.com, and thousands of other sites like these.

This tactic involves creating free software like screensavers, rss readers, web toolbars and then submitting to software directories.

Actually you don’t need to create those applications at all. You can just use a HTML to EXE converter software and turn your salespage into an .exe application. Do a search on Google and you will find several free converters available.

The software directories require you to use what is called a pad file to get all the information about your software.

After you create your software, you then can use a pad file submission program to submit your pad file to 1000s of directories. I personally use a paid software called Robosoft to submit all the software I create.

This tactic is quite successful to me. All the software I submitted brings me some nice, consistent traffic. It’s extra 40 subscribers or more per day.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

Why This ‘Junk’ Site Does Well Under Google Caffeine

In my last post, I discussed the SEO impact of Google Caffeine, and I mentioned a ‘junk’ authority site that does well under the new Google Caffeine.

But before I continue, I need to make it clear that my intention is not to belittle this site. I simply want to use it as a case study to show you that it is still possible to dominate Google’s search result, without having to build the next wikipedia.

Without beating around the bush, here is the site.

This site has lots of page 1 ranking in Google (see proof here).

But if you study into this site, you will realize that most of the articles in this site are PLR articles, either partially rewritten or with sentences jumbled up.

Question is, how on earth does this site do so well in Google?

As I explained in my previous post, Google is biased towards authority sites. This site is an aged site (started in 2003), with PR 5, and it has tons of articles (though not original). That basically meets the requirement of an authority site.

To Google, this site is technically looking like another Wikipedia or Ezinearticles.

But that is not all. This site is good at categorizing its contents.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

Google Caffeine SEO Impact (With Case Study)

On 8 June, Google announced the completion of its new search engine indexing system called Google Caffeine. Over the past 2 weeks, I have been doing all kinds of research and site analyses, to find out what is the SEO impact of this new Google Caffeine, what does it mean to internet marketers like us and how it affects our search engine rankings.

It turns out that the impact is HUGE, but it’s within my expectation.

First, let’s look at what Google says:

“Caffeine provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it’s the largest collection of web content we’ve offered.”

Hm…. 50% fresher results!!! That means before Google Caffeine, tons of webpages were not indexed by Google. If you still think Google will index all your webpages, think again.

With 50% more results, what do you think will happen?

Yes, more competition!

But that’s not all. (More bad news coming…..)

After all the analyses, I only have one conclusion about the new Google Caffeine system. That is, Google Caffeine gives A LOT more weight to Site Authority!!!

Let’s do a case study to show you what I mean. In March, I showed you a screenshot of how I dominated Google’s first page with 9 out of 10 results. To refresh your memory, check out this screenshot again: Here..

Let’s do a search for the same keyword and see what is happening now (see screenshot below):

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

What Would I Do If I Were A Newbie In Internet Marketing?

Sometimes I ask myself, “What would I do if I were a newbie in internet marketing?”. Let’s answer this question today. I believe it will benefit some of our readers here.

1) Build Adsense Income

Yes, the first thing I will do is to build my Adsense income.

Until today, I am still grateful that I added Adsense in my overall game plan.

The thing is, in the processing of building Adsense income, I would have mastered a few important skills, which include website building, simple server management and most important of all, search engine optimization.

I don’t have to know how to sell or promote things. As long as I know how to bring in traffic, I am likely to make money!

It’s truly a “Learn As You Earn” scenario.

When it comes to making money from Adsense, I will not start a blog, which most people will do nowadays. This is because blogging takes time. I want to spend most of my time learning more skills and exploring other ways to make money. (Note: When I say “starting a blog”, I don’t mean starting a blog filled with prewritten articles. I am referring to a blog where I need to personally write articles and post frequently.)

2) Explore Affiliate Marketing

The next thing I’ll explore is affiliate marketing.

There are many different strategies to make money as an affiliate marketer. For example, you can create different niche sites to sell different Clickbank products. But I wouldn’t do that. Somehow I don’t feel that it’s going to bring me long-term passive income. (I may be wrong.)

Instead, I will become a ‘guru’ type of affiliate marketer, where I build an info-rich website (not blog) and a list. I’ll get traffic through search engine optimization, advertising and viral marketing.

Once my website is established, I can sell many different affiliate products and I don’t have to worry about whether a particular affiliate product will disappear tomorrow because I own the customers.

When choosing which niche to get into, I will look for a niche where there is a lot of potential to earn passive income. For example, I may get into the stock trading niche where I can promote brokering services that earn me recurring commissions.

Through this venture into affiliate marketing, I would have learnt the art of copywriting, advertising and viral marketing. These are essential skills that will make me a powerful online marketer in time to come.

Did you notice that I said I will start an info-rich website (not blog)? Basically I will not start a blog until I feel committed to the niche.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

Make Money Blogging With Google’s Free Tool: Wonder Wheel

Nowadays it seems that everyone is a blogger. My discussion today is from the point of view of a marketer. I believe today’s discussion will provide a different angle to this topic.

Generally there are 4 types of web hosting plans to choose from, namely shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS hosting and dedicated hosting. If you are new, you can see the pricing and detailed descriptions here.

If you are a server expert or you are planning to start your own webhosting service, this article is not for you. But if you are an internet marketer, looking for a web hosting plan that meets your needs, I’m sure my experience in web hosting will help you.

So, which web hosting plan should you choose?

Cheap is better

When it comes to hosting, paying more doesn’t mean you get more. In fact, it’s the reverse. Let me explain.

The cheapest plan is called shared hosting, which usually cost you less than 10 bucks a month. As the name suggests, shared hosting means you are sharing a server with probably hundreds of other users. Because of this, the hosting company has huge liability in these shared servers. It cannot afford to have these servers fail or it will affect hundreds of their clients. As a result, they do regular server updates, backups, maintenance and they provide 24/7 uptime monitoring.

But if you go for other more expensive hosting plans, the servers usually have lesser users and as a result, those servers receive lesser attention from the hosting company. (Most companies will deny this, but that is the truth.)

Take the most expensive plan, dedicated hosting, as an example. Most hosting companies will not monitor the uptime of such servers. Also, they will do lesser system maintenance and updates. Reason? Because you own the whole server and are responsible for the maintenance yourself!

In addition to this, most shared hosting plan offers unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth. Yet, almost all other more expensive hosting plans have limits on disk space and bandwidth. If you are using one of those more expensive hosting plans, you have to worry about your disk and bandwidth usage.

Think about it this way. By paying more, you get limited disk space, limited bandwidth and lesser server maintenance. This is what’s happening when you pay more for your web host.

Of course, there are limitations to shared hosting. But that is when you become a heavy user.

As a rule of thumb, if you are simply running niche websites for Adsense or affiliate commissions, shared hosting should be your best choice…… until you max out your shared server.

How to max out your server?

So far, the message I’m trying to put across is get a cheap shared hosting plan because you get the best server support compared to all other hosting plans. But that is assuming you are just a small-time marketer (most people are).

If you are a big-time marketer or going to be a big-time marketer, things may be a little different.

Below are ways in which you can max out the capacity of a shared hosting server.

1) Mass Mailing

One of the most taxing activities in a server is mass mailing. If you are intending to build a list and send out mass email through your own server, chances are, you can’t live with a shared hosting plan, not even a reseller or VPS plan.

Most shared hosting has a limit of 500 emails per hour. This means if you were to mail to a list of say 5000 people, it will take you 10 hours.

If you are using hosted autoresponder services like Aweber, this will not be a concern since emails are sent through Aweber’s server, not yours.

2) Product Launch

If you are planning a big product launch, there is a high chance that you will max out the server bandwidth.

“Kenneth, I thought shared hosting has got unlimited bandwidth?”

Yes, that’s a lie.

Imagine bandwidth as a pail of water. When you are promised with unlimited bandwidth, what it means is you have an infinitely huge water pail, full of water of course. The catch here is water must flow out from a tap. For shared hosting, you’ve got a small water tap. So if there is a sudden surge of traffic to your server, this small water tap may not be enough to cater to that surge. The result is you get very sluggish web loading speed and occasional disconnectivity issues.

3) Video Hosting

If your server hosts a lot of videos and a lot of people are watching it, you will run into the same bandwidth issue, as explained in #2.

Basically, any activity that involves huge data transfer to and from the server will tax on the bandwidth and create potential bandwidth issue.

4) Hosting Too Many Domains

Did I mention that most shared hosting plans allow you to host unlimited domains? Well, that’s another lie.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Choose Web Hosting Service (If You Are Starting Out)

This week, we are going to talk about how to choose web hosting service if you are a beginner who are starting out, wanting to make some money from the internet. Next week, we will talk about web hosting for advanced online marketers. If you are an advanced marketer, be sure to check out our blog next week.

So, what does it take to make money online? Is it know-how? Is it technical skill? Is it your connection or network?

Well, all of these play a part. But the main factor is Right Mindset + Right Action.

You may wonder what has it got to do with choosing web hosting service. Read on…

Another question. What makes a good web hosting service for beginners? Is it hosting features? Is it price? Is it customer support?

Again, all of them play a part. But the main factor is it should make you money.

When I say it should make you money, I’m not referring to those MLM web hosting systems. I’m talking about web hosting that has a workable system that practically guarantees your success.

Let me share with you my story, one that some of you may be able to relate to……

Many years back, when I first decided to build a website, my first thought was, well, I’ll choose a cheap web host.

I found one that only cost me $35 a year, including domain name and 1 year hosting. So I got a domain, a hosting service and a step-by-step guide that claimed to teach me how to make money online. I can’t remember what I did with the website, but basically I made $0.00 from that venture.

Finally, I gave up on cheapskate solutions and invested in a “guided web hosting system” that claimed to hold my hands and lead me step-by-step to success. The system costs me $300 a year (I think).

But guess what, when your pocket hurts, you work!

I dedicated months to follow the system to a tee, and started making some money and eventually crossed my first $100 a month in less than a year. (As you can see, it was a slow start, but hey, I was a newbie, remember?)

So which hosting is cheaper, the first one that cost $35 a year, or the second one that cost $300 a year?

Remember in the beginning of this article, I said newbies’ success depends mainly on Right Mindset + Right Action?

The $35 a year hosting gave me a cheap alternative, and left me with a ’see-if-it-works’ mindset and a ’step-by-step-but-up-to-you-to-follow’ action plan.

The $300 a year hosting, on the other hand, gave me a ‘I-must-earn-back-that-money’ mindset and a superbly ‘annoying’ system that forced me to do everything exactly its way. And the result was… I was forced to do the right thing and made money!!

Let me share with you what I mean by ‘annoying’. Imagine when you try to submit a webpage, the system will always slap you with tons of error messages, asking you to correct this and correct that. It’s like your nagging parents who insist that you must do things their way. But over time, you mind is slowly trained to do things ‘its way’ and it becomes your second nature. And guess what, that’s how you learn to do things the right way!

Honestly, I might not have the discipline to learn and do things the right way without this system.

But interestingly, I ditched that system after 2 years.

Why?!

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Convert Traffic Into Sales? (Part 3)

In this concluding episode of How To Convert Traffic Into Sales, we are going to discuss strategies to increase the conversion of traffic into sales of your own products.

If you are a product owner, the key to converting traffic into sales is really in the overall game plan, which is made up of the following objectives:

1) Proof
2) Hook
3) Offer
4) Over-deliver
5) Offer again

1) Proof

When traffic comes to your product site, your main objective is to prove to the visitors that your site is a trustworthy site and your product can meet their needs.

This is when you demonstrate your copywriting skills.

Some of the tricks that can help you to achieve this objective include testimonials, case studies, your photo, a video intro from you and as suggested by one of our readers, a link to your Facebook account.

2) Hook

If you can achieve the first objective of Proof, you can basically filter your visitors into 2 groups.

The first group is made up of people who don’t need your product or service at all. This group of people will not do anything regardless of how good your product is. Ignore them.

The second group consists of people who have a need for your product or service, but they may or may not buy it. This is the group of people you want to Hook!

I believe you should have guessed it by now that what I mean by Hook is to get them into your list. Whether they are going to buy or not, you will want to convert them into your list because they are your target prospects now or in the future.

How to convert them into your list is another huge topic. In short, the trick that has been working for me is to provide a free version of the service I’m offering. If you can somehow offer a free version of the product or service that you are selling, I highly suggest that you offer that option. This way, you can capture all the people belonging to the second group.

3) Offer

Once you have a system to Hook your hot prospects, the next thing you must do is to give them a good reason to take action now - i.e. buy your product NOW!

In real life, you don’t propose to your new girlfriend the first day you’re engaged. But in sales, you MUST do so. In Mandarin, we say “Hit The Iron While It’s Hot”.

You can use strategies like “one time offer”, “increasing price strategy”, “limited supply strategy”, “time-sensitive offer”, “fast action bonus” and many other tricks. The idea is to give them enough reasons to take action NOW or they will either miss a great discount or great offer.

Typical conversion rate is about 10%. My best record is 60%, meaning every 5 people who opt-in, 3 are paying customers.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Convert Traffic Into Sales? (Part 2)

Last week, we talked about how to convert traffic into “ad-click” sales. Today, we will discuss how to convert traffic into “product” sales.

Similar to ad-clicks, the “prerequisite” of any product sales is targeted traffic. Whether you’re getting traffic from search engines, PPC or other advertising channels, the traffic must be interested in your product.

If you are getting traffic from the search engines, you’ll have to note that in addition to getting targeted traffic, you have to get traffic from keywords that can convert into sales. For example, you may be getting lots of traffic from the keywords “ideas for Christmas presents”, yet not making any sale. Instead, a low volume keywords of “unique Christmas present for mum” may get you some sales. Like it or not, certain keywords simply convert better than others and you need to find out what these keywords are!

With that prerequisite in mind, let’s look at the strategies to convert traffic into product sales, including affiliate sales and sales of your own product.

1) How To Convert Traffic Into Affiliate Sales

Whether you are selling your own product or affiliated product, the most important factor is trust or confidence.

For those of you who have read my Insider Advertising Report, you will know that Sales Is A Transfer Of Confidence.

If you are selling an affiliated product, you can build trust in 2 ways:

i) Give a personal encounter of your experience with the product that you recommend.

- This is usually a one-page review on how the product has benefited you. The storyline will always be something like “I was having so and so problem…. then I found this product…. then my problem is solved.”

- In this model, the visitors are likely to read your experience in detail and eventually click to the product site.

ii) Build a ’seemingly’ trustworthy niche site, one that seems to have great info and great reviews, with prominent links or banners linking to your affiliated product.

- Such a niche site usually have 5-10 pages of relevant contents, with the objective of making the site look as if it understands the niche well. Every article should link to your affiliated product. In addition, every page should have a prominent banner that links to the affiliated product. This is important because the number of traffic to your affiliated site has a direct impact on the number of sales you make.

- In this model, you don’t really expect your visitors to read the articles. The articles and entire website are just to make them trust your site before they go to the affiliated site.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Convert Traffic Into Sales? (Part 1)

By now you probably realize that getting traffic is easy, but knowing how to convert traffic into sales is harder!

In today’s blog, I’m going to share with you some practical tips on how to convert traffic into sales.

First, what sales are we referring to?

Are we talking about ad clicks, as in the case of Adsense click-through? Or we’re referring to product sales, as in the case of affiliate sales or sales of your own products or services?

Since they require different techniques, I will discuss them differently.

How To Convert Traffic Into Ad Clicks

The “prerequisite” of any ad-clicks is targeted traffic. Whether you’re getting traffic from search engines, PPC or other advertising channels, the traffic must be interested in the content on your webpage and hence the content of the ads. Without this prerequisite, nothing else can work.

With that prerequisite in mind, let’s look at the strategies to convert traffic into sales (ad clicks in this case).

1) Place an ad above the fold

Don’t worry about making your webpage ugly. Be focused. You want ad-clicks! Just get it.

One of your ads, such as an Adsense ad, should be above the fold (i.e. can be seen without scrolling) and located right in the middle of the webpage. Usually, a good place to put it is immediately below the title.

2) Place an ad near the action button or action link

If you are running a forum or any website where people tend to click on buttons or links to take some actions, place an ad near the most used button.

3) Place an ad at the end of the article

If the visitors happen to read the content on your webpage, you’ll want to offer them something to do after reading. And that something is of course… an ad!

3) Don’t frame the ad!

Don’t frame the ad with borders. Remove any border.

In the offline world, retail shop owners are adopting an open concept, removing glass panels and walls because they realize that this will increase the traffic flow to their shops.

Same goes for the virtual world. See What I Mean Here.

Out of 10 results in the first page, 9 are articles from the same author, syndicated on different websites.

The last result is a YouTube video, which is something Google tries to include in every result page.

In fact, for this particular search term, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th page of Google are mostly dominated by the same article.

Interested to know how it’s done?

In today’s blog, I’m going to show you exactly how it is done. Yes, I know exactly how it’s done because I’m the person behind it.

What happened is this article is an article submitted by one of the members at ezArticleLink, our new link building system.

The article gets published in hundreds of other domains in the system, over a period of time, so as to get backlinks to that member’s site.

Now, the question is, if you write an article and publish in hundreds of article directories, will you get the same result?

Not likely, because most of the articles are buried deep in the directory and more importantly, there is no backlink to those articles.

Then what makes this article different?

I’m not going to hide anything. Here are the reasons:

1) Unique article

The article has been spun according to our spinning requirement. This ensures that every published article is unique (at least in the eyes of Google).

To ensure good user experience, Google does not display duplicated contents. It will only choose the most relevant one (usually the one with the most backlinks) and show it.

For Google to show all your articles in one page, that article must be unique. So to Google, it is showing 9 different articles.

2) Highly relevant content

Google’s objective is to return the most relevant webpage for a given search term.

By means of relevance, I mean…

i) The title of the webpage must be relevant

As you can see from the screenshot, all the titles contain the search keyword, except for the 9th listing, which is something else (actually an error with that site that cause it not showing the correct title and the problem has just been fixed).

ii) The content in the webpage must be relevant

In this case, every webpage you see in the screenshot above has content related to the keyword. NO OTHER miscellaneous content or randomly generate content in it.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To Find JV Partners

In this article, I will share with you some of my recent experiences in finding JV partners.

As you probably know, we’re nearing the launch of our new link building system and I’m dead busy preparing for the launch. One of the things I am busy doing is to find JV partners for the launch.

Getting Big Names To Be Your JV Partners

Thinking that I have a good product and some reputation in the market, I thought maybe I can try sending a JV proposal to some of the big names out there. So I did.

I sent out about 10-15 emails either to their email addresses or via their online support. The result? None. Either they reply with an industry standard reply “My schedule is full” or there is no reply at all.

Kind of expected, but I thought no harm trying my luck.

The lesson? Don’t be disappointed if you are rejected!

Getting Big Names To Be Your JV Partners - The Correct Way

Alright, above is a negative demonstration. Here’s the correct way to do it.

Over the past years, I was acquainted with other big names and have helped them either in their product launches or in other aspects.

This time, when I sent them a JV proposal, most of them respond favorably.

You see, big names are busy. They have their own businesses to run and are not in any need to promote any product. The only reason they will consider your JV proposal is because you’ve done them a favor in the past.

So before you even think of approaching big names as JV partners, you probably need to start building rapport months or years ahead. If they have a product launch, help them in the launch and be one of the top sellers. Get them to know you in person. This will dramatically increase your chance of getting them to help you in your product launch.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

SEO Case Study - Free SEO Tutorial (Part 6)

I have almost covered all you need to know about SEO in Part 1 to 5 of our Free SEO Tutorial series.

Today will be the last episode.

The best way to sum up this tutorial series is to give you an SEO case study of successful website. A good example I can think of is Ezinearticles.com.Unless you are very new to the IM industry, you should know Ezinearticles.com. You probably also know that the articles in Ezinearticles get very high ranking in Google search results.

But why?

As the old saying goes, “success leaves tracks”. Today, let’s try to find these tracks! If you found any tracks that I missed, feel free to add them in the comments section.

Step 1: High Site Authority

Ezinearticles has a high site authority. As discussed in Free SEO Tutorial (Part 1), when you have a high site authority, anything you post will turn gold! A little exaggerated, but you get the idea.

What really makes it an authority site is everyone’s guess. But these are some of the clues we can gather:

i) Age. Checking on whois.net, Ezinearticles.com was created in 1999. Google.com was created in 1997. So Ezinearticles is only 2 years younger!

ii) It has a PR of 6 now. It means it has lots of backlinks to the site.

iii) It has lots of contents (some unique, mostly duplicated due to the nature of its service).

iv) It has lots of backlinks to its internal pages, i.e. the article pages.

All these are the known factors that contribute to a site authority, and it has all of them!

Step 2: Relevant Webpage Content And Links

The article page in Ezinearticles is keyword focused. If you go to an article about dog, you will notice that everything on that page is about dog. That includes all the internal links.

If you are a blogger, this is an important clue for you. If you are blogging everything under the sun (which is okay), please avoid plugins like popular posts, recent comments etc. This is because the randomness nature of the content generated by these plugins will dilute the relevancy of your blog post. Instead, you should use plugins like related posts that will show only related articles. Always ask yourself, how can you become a mini Ezinearticles?

Step 3: Lots Of Keyword-Focused Internal Links

Having relevant internal links on every webpage is not good enough, you need lots of them! Go to any article page on Ezinearticles and count how many internal links there are. Besides the standard navigation links, it has 45 other internal links all linking to other webpages in the same niche!

You see, Google Search’s objective is to return the most relevant resource that people search for. If your webpage has lots of internal links to other webpages related to the searched keywords, your webpage looks like a great resource center. That’s what Google likes!

Step 4: Lots Of Keyword-Focused Internal Links

Same title as point #3. It’s not a mistake.

There is another benefit of having lots of keyword-focused internal links. It has to do with content duplication.

Since Ezinearticles allows webmasters to publish its articles on their websites, it naturally creates duplicated contents. But with 45 other links on every article, they effectively turn every article unique!

A simple word count on the titles of 45 links shows that they can easily amount to 500 words! Ezinearticles articles are usually 250 to 1000 words long. So even if we take an article with 1000 words, with 500 other ‘keyword-focused’ words, that article is easily 50% unique compared to the same article published elsewhere!

Some of you may ask, doesn’t Google check content duplication sentence by sentence? It doesn’t.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

Common SEO Myths - Free SEO Tutorial (Part 5)

In this tutorial, we will discuss some of the common SEO myths that are pretty important and you should be aware of. Without further ado, let’s start……

Step 1: You need to post new articles to your website regularly

Google loves new contents? Yes. That’s not a myth. But that doesn’t mean Google hates old contents. On the contrary, Google loves old contents even more!

Truth is, I have many websites that I hardly touch for years. Yet they are still getting traffic from Google, and the traffic is increasing as the website ages, because AGE is an important factor in SEO.

The notion of Google loving new contents is because Google will give new contents a search result boost, based on the assumption that new content has some kind of ‘news value’.

For example, if you post a new article to your blog, that article may quickly appear on the first page of Google for the keyword you’re optimizing. But a few days later, that article will lose its ‘news value’ and it will have to compete with other webpages, based on the amount of backlinks and other SEO factors.

An advantage of posting new articles regularly is that it will increase the frequency of the search spiders visiting your website. That will affect how soon your new content is indexed, but it will not affect your search engine ranking at all.

Step 2: You need ‘quality’ backlinks to succeed in SEO

If you have been reading blogs from official SEO experts, they will all tell you the same story. Get quality backlinks!

How on earth can you find so many quality backlinks? Try asking someone with just a PR3 website to link to you and see if you can get any reply from him. Even if he does, try doing it for 100 of your webpages!

The only workable way to get quality backlinks seems to be buying links, assuming you are superbly cash rich. But link buying has been condemned by Google. Try it if you dare. I’m serious. You may not be caught.

The truth is you don’t need quality backlinks to succeed. Rather than spending your time seeking or dreaming of quality backlinks, spend you time to try out tools and systems that you can leverage on to build more “legitimate” backlinks with less effort from you.

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,

How To SEO A Website From Scratch - Free SEO Tutorial (Part 4)

In this tutorial, my aim is to show you how to SEO a website from scratch, with step-by-step guide that you can follow.

Before I begin, I want to say, “forget about how to SEO a website”. You never SEO a website. You SEO a web page. When every web page on your website is optimized for search engine, the website is considered optimized.

I’m not trying to play around with words. It’s important that you understand the difference.

Now let’s move on to the step by step guide….

Assuming you have a new website or blog, with a homepage and a couple of other content pages. Here’re what you need to do to SEO your website or blog:

Step 1: Set your target

Remember this: You will never know where to shoot if you do not have a target.

In SEO, your target is your keyword phrase (aka anchor texts). This is where keyword research comes in.

You need to decide what keyword phrase you want to optimize for every web page that you wish to rank in the search engine.

Every web page, including the homepage, should be optimized for one (or at most three) keyword phrase. Be focused.

If you want to target more keyword phrases, you should add more web pages to your website, instead of trying to make one web page optimized for different keywords.

Step 2: Get the fundamentals right

Check and make sure that the followings are correctly done for every web page:

- Keyword phrase found in title tag
- Keyword phrase found in description meta tag
- Keyword phrase found in the url (if possible)
- Keyword phrase found within the content

Also consider the idea of owning your own customer helpdesk, read more...
http://profitsdesk.com

Greg.
Check out my own HelpDesk here.
Visit here for: Online Income, Advertising, Marketing and Traffic Generation Resources
Keywords: Advertising+Marketing, Online+Income
Traffic+Generation, Free+Advertising,
